Eligibility and How to apply

Symphony Hall Feb 2009; Andris Nelsons conducting

Membership of the CBSO Youth Orchestra is by annual audition - open to all young players of orchestral instruments currently living or in full-time education in the West or East Midlands, aged between 14 and 21. However, players aged slightly older or younger than this will be considered on occasion - as will applicants from outside the Midland region. The entire orchestra is re-auditioned annually.

Auditions for the year are usually held in late spring of the preceding academic year. After a successful audition, applicants will be informed by letter. A fee of £35.00 per member for each course then becomes payable. Successful applicants who suffer from genuine financial hardship may be eligible for support from the Blyth Major Memorial Bursary Scheme, while larger grants may be applied for once a year from the James Langley Memorial Trust - please contact Richard Bratby for more information
